Have you noticed that the old favourites are coming back. We like to call them “Retro Foods” that’s why we’ve decided to embrace the American Diner experience.
We are still doing our famous steaks and your old favourites like Honey Roasted Whole 
Ham Hock and Line Caught, Lager Battered Haddock but we have also developed an extensive American Diner menu with a fantastic selection of burgers, hot dogs, ice cream sundaes and delicious thick milk shakes.
So now we’ve got something for everyone!

Why not join us for Sunday Lunch, there is a choice of English Topside of Beef, Free Range Chicken or Locally Sourced Pork. We have lot’s of choices for vegetarians on our menu too so there is something for everyone!
Our home cooked Sunday lunches are £7.95 for 1 course with special Sunday puds and starters at £3.50. We are also doing a Sunday bottle of house white or red for £10.
Because of the quality of the home cooked food and the price, we believe that we do the best Sunday lunch in Hertfordshire.
Because we are the only pub in Therfield and the surrounding area, we feel it’s important that our locals and customers alike feel at home and comfortable.
We offer great beer, a warm and friendly atmosphere, delicious, locally sourced, food and dog biscuits for Rover.
You can eat a home cooked basket meal in the bar or, if you prefer, you can enjoy dinner in our restaurant area.
We have an extensive steak menu or why not try our signature dish of a whole Ham Hock, (don’t forget to ask for a doggy bag)!
Don’t forget our accommodation! We believe that we are one of the best bed and breakfasts in Hertfordshire. We have 3 modern double en-suite letting rooms with flat screen TVs, trouser press, tea coffee making facilities and free Internet access. Of-course it all comes with a traditional home cooked breakfast to send you on your way in the morning.
Our lovely village is a famous starting point for many great walks and we are happy for you to park your vehicles in our car park if you want securer parking, you could even pop in to us in the morning to book your lunch for when you return.
Here at The Fox and Duck we serve home cooked food in the lunch time and evenings. Our lunch menu ranges from fabulous hot butties to a massive gammon steak with a free range egg and fries. There is usually some kind of home cooked cake on offer. We sell chocolates and sweets and all the usual bar snacks. There’s back gammon, connects4, chess and many more games to play, along with an extensive library and book borrowing scheme.
In the evening you could have a sizzling steak, a beer battered haddock or if you are feeling really hungry you could try our whole ham hock. If you have room for a sweet, our “back to school” chocolate pudding with whipped cream is comfort food to die for!
The atmosphere at The Fox and Duck is enhanced by John’s fantastic music collection, (he has been a professional musician all his life). The music is not too loud but loud enough to be appreciated by everyone.
